The Cleveland Bay Biodiversity Database

The Biodiversity index was compiled from records kept by the Australian Institute of Marine Science for work carried out within Cleveland Bay. This is a small subset of similar records kept for the wider Australian coastal region.

The information was collected from work over the last 15 years during a variety of research projects carried out in the Bay. The predominant source was from research examining the presence of biologically active compounds from marine plants and animals which may have biomedical or other applications. This work is based on intertidal and subtidal surveys using SCUBA across as wide a range of habitats as possible. The project is dependant on rigorous identification of species and all collections are curated for long term preservation with vouchers lodged in the Queensland Museum.
